Europe began a new legislative cycle in 2024, whose main objectives are to preserve and strengthen the competitiveness of European companies while implementing the continent’s decarbonization pathway set by the Paris Agreement. 2026 and 2027 will be pivotal years for implementing the necessary reforms to several key pieces of legislation shaping the aviation sector.
For the Air France-KLM Group, public policies must enable the aviation industry to achieve its climate goals while safeguarding its competitiveness and continuing to prioritize safety and the customer experience. The role of the Group’s European Affairs team is therefore to work with the European institutions to achieve these shared objectives.
During their assignment, the Public Policy Officer will support Air France-KLM’s European Affairs team in Brussels and contribute to strengthening its ability to influence the European institutions and stakeholders in the aviation, energy, and environmental sectors.
In this context, the Public Policy Officer will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Regulatory monitoring: tracking the activities of the European institutions and legislative procedures
- Analysis and summarizing of official documents with legislative or informational relevance
- Preparation of position papers
- Identification and mapping of institutional stakeholders
- Active monitoring of the actions of the main stakeholders involved in the European debate on civil aviation
- Representing the Group in various forums, in particular in the working groups of Airlines for Europe, IATA, and associations in which the Group is active
- Preparation of internal and external meetings
- Contributing to the internal and external communication of the European Affairs team
Graduate of a higher education program at Master’s level (BAC+5) (Faculty of Political Science, IEP/Institute of Political Studies, business schools, etc.)
Required skills :
Good understanding of how the European institutions function and of the EU legislative process
Awareness of European mobility and energy issues
Full proficiency in French (written and spoken) and English (written and spoken), C1 level
A third European language would be an asset
Strong analytical skills, rigor, and flexibility
Excellent communication, coordination, and cross-functional collaboration skills
Must not have held a Belgian employment contract in the 6 months preceding the start of the V.I.E assignment.
V.I.E requirements :
- Be between 18 and 28 years old at the time of signing the contract
- Be French or a national of a country in the European Economic Area (EEA)
- Comply with the national service obligations of the country of which you are a citizen
- Have completed the Defence and Citizenship Day (French nationals under 25 only)
- Have no criminal record
- Must not have previously completed a V.I.E assignment
