The Air France-KLM European Affairs office in Brussels is looking for an enthusiastic and driven colleague in the position of EU Policy Officer. The AFKL European Affairs department is responsible for following aviation-related developments within the European Commission, the European Parliament and the Council and reports back on these developments to the organisation. In addition, the department maintains close contacts with the EU institutions, as well as other relevant stakeholders in Brussels, such as Airlines for Europe (A4E), IATA, E4FC and ENAA.

Job description

You are based in Brussels in the position of EU Policy Advisor that consists of multiple tasks to support the EU Affairs Team, including monitoring and analysing relevant EU developments, attend and organise meetings with the EU institutions, as well organising events. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor, analyse and retrieve intelligence on relevant EU political and institutional developments;
  • Create, oversee and advise on EU policies and assist in developing advocacy strategies on relevant EU files (e.g. sustainability, consumer rights and aviation policies);
  • Maintain and develop relationships with relevant stakeholders in the EU institutions and the airlines’ industry;
  • Participate and represent AFKL in relevant meetings and events; 
  • Assist in drafting reports, studies and meeting notes;
  • Providing support to the team by organising events, creating newsletters etc. 

Sought profile

  • University level education (Master's degree), preferably in an area related to European studies, politics, economics or law;
  • Proven track record of 2-3 years of experience within EU institutions, EU associations or Brussels based consultancies;
  • Good understanding of the EU's decision making procedure, international institutions and national developments;
  • Excellent analytical skills;
  • Strong organizational skills and a good ability for multitasking.
  • Strong human and interpersonal skills;
  • A strong interest in Aviation.
  • Positive attitude as a flexible team player;
  • Proven track record within the EU institutions, national or international organizations is a strong plus;
  • Excellent written and verbal proficiency in English, knowledge of another European language – particularly Dutch and French is a strong plus.
